Waterfront for All, an umbrella organization dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of Toronto’s waterfront, welcomes the announced Quayside development partnership.
“Waterfront Toronto’s partnership with Sidewalk Labs really kicks the renewal of the East Bayfront area into high gear,” Ed Hore, Chair of Waterfront for All said. “The Quayside project will create a low-carbon, resilient, and tech-enabled neighbourhood that can serve as a model for future development in the Port Lands"
The high-profile partner for the new high-tech waterfront community around Queen’s Quay at Parliament Street slip will be Sidewalk Labs, an urban innovation sister company of Google.
“As our city continues to grow, we need to do it in smart and sustainable ways – and the world-class Quayside development will show us how,” Hore added. “Community engagement will be key to shaping this trailblazing project. Our initial talks with Waterfront Toronto and Sidewalk Labs indicate we’re on the same page.”
The creation of a new waterfront community Quayside will include new residential and commercial developments, infrastructure for new tech businesses and vibrant public spaces that could serve as a blueprint for the much larger Port Lands.
